California Ultimate is proud to host this year’s USA Ultimate Select Flight Invite – West at the Galway Downs in Temecula, CA. SFI West 2022 will feature over 40 teams battling in the Women’s, Men’s and Mixed divisions. That’s over 100 action packed games of 7v7 Ultimate!

Galway Downs
38801 Los Corralitos Rd, Temecula, CA 92592

Please consider carpooling as the venue charges $12/day/car for parking. We’ll send out more detailed parking instruction in days leading up to SFI.

  • Permanent & portable restrooms
  • Food vendors
  • 20+ grass fields
  • As many water stations and sun canopies as we can get

  • Games on Saturday will start around 9:30AM. We hope to finish the tournament by 4:00PM on Sunday.
  • All fields will have player lines and equipment lines; please respect your opponents by respecting them.
  • There may be an observer assigned to your game; there might not be. Always play with the spirit of the game front and center.
  • We will have athletic trainers on site starting 90 minutes before games begin each day.
  • It will likely be hot.
    • We will provide as many sun canopies as we can plus ample water stations throughout the facility.
    • Please hydrate in the days leading up to the event in addition to day-of.
    • We have a Wet-Bulb Thermometer to monitor heat stress. We will be using USA Ultimate’s recommended guidelines – as needed – for altering play (mandatory heat timeouts, extra time between points, reduced round times, etc). Please click HERE to see the guidelines.
  • CUA won’t be providing any complimentary food on site as there will be food vendors present.
  • We expect schedules to be out by Wednesday, July 27th in the early evening if not sooner.

  • Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the fields.
  • There is no overnight parking allowed on site unless renting a cabin or pony house on site.
  • Do not park on the streets; there’s no parking on Los Caballos, Los Corralitos or Pauba Road. Violators will be ticketed and/or towed. We want to be good neighbors and it’s critical we keep the roads surrounding Galway Downs clear of vehicles.
  • No outside alcohol and no alcohol on the fields.  Depending on the event, Galway Downs may have areas reserved for enjoying adult beverages (sufficiently away from the fields).

  • COMING TO GALWAY DOWNS: Use your smart phone/GPS to get to Temecula, but please ignore it once you turn on Los Caballos or Pauba Road and follow the signs/directions because your GPS is going to likely send you to the main entrance and not to the correct entrance for your field/parking.
  • LEAVING GALWAY DOWNS:  Leaving Galway Downs by Highway 79 can challenging due to the traffic coming back from the desert on weekends.  We strongly recommend you exit via PAUBA ROAD to go back to Highway 15.  This will save you 15-20 minutes in traffic and lights.

There are many hotel options in the greater Temecula area. Because it’s high wedding season you might need to look around and expand your search to find great rates. We have secured two deals at hotels fairly nearby that you can take advantage of.
  • Motel 6 – 27855 Encanto Drive, Menifee, CA 92586 – 28-35 minutes away
    • 2 queen beds – ranging from $156-180/night + tax depending on Friday or Saturday and number of players
    • Call 800-544-4866 to book and give them the confirmation code for the California Ultimate room block: GP86N99H1
  • Red Lion Inn & Suites – 480 S Redlands Ave, Perris, CA 92570 – 30-40 minutes away
    • 2 queen beds + breakfast – $120 + tax
    • Call (951) 943-5577 and mention the California Ultimate room block

Getting here is a bit of a trek so please explore all of your international airport options and factor in drive time:

  • ONT and SAN – about 60-70 minutes
  • SNA – 70-90 minutes
  • LGB – 80-100 minutes
  • LAX – 100-120 minutes

There are a very limited number of on-site cabins and pony houses. The following form includes pictures and descriptions of each and allows you to place a reservation for one or more. There are only 4 cabin and 6 pony house reservations available and we only have 48 hours to lock in these rates; form reservations will be accepted in the order they are received. Check out more info on the form!

  • If you haven’t played in a competitive event in awhile, please reacquaint yourself & your team with the 2022/2023 rules!
  • It’s early in the season so please do your best to wear matching jerseys. Mostly USAU asks that teams represent the sport well. Please do not wear sloppily made spray-painted cut-off t-shirts. Just make sure y’all look good, no inappropriate items or language, they should all be the same color, no gray jerseys; the usual.

TEAM FEE: $700 due July 15th

PLAYER FEE: $15 per player, due July 22nd

  • FEE STRUCTURE: CUA has adopted a pricing structure that includes a team fee and an additional player fee to ensure our event costs get covered while providing a more equitable price to smaller (and frequently newer) teams. The Player Fee did go up from our initial bid estimate as the cost of athletic trainers and electric carts went up by nearly 20%.
  • REFUNDS: If for some reason you have a player that becomes unable to attend entirely (injury, etc) after paying, we ask that you inform us by Monday, July 25th. After the 25th we will not be able to offer any refunds. It’s easier for us to refund you for players that cancel their trip prior to July 25th than for you to purchase additional players later on so we encourage you to be optimistic about rostering.

California Ultimate works year round to promote the sport of Ultimate and your attendance helps support our programs. What do we do? Glad you asked!

    1. Create innovative programming: in 2020 we created and ran Uplift Ultimate virtual youth camp during the COVID-19 isolation phase in partnership with PGH Ultimate, in 2021 Project Disc Go delivered 1,000 discs to Inglewood and Fresno families and continues to create engaging skills videos on TikTok accessed by the QR code on the disc, and this year Project Disc Go Disco has transformed the average Ultimate warmup into a fun and creative dance session which we plan to teach kids across CA and social media to get them moving and smiling with a disc in hand;
    2. Develop partnerships to expand youth play: this spring when Inglewood Unified School District had a dearth of Middle School PE teachers we took over all classes at 4 schools for 7 weeks, this summer with LA County Parks we are running a free 8-week Ultimate and disc golf class at Magic Johnson Park in Willowbrook as part of Parks After Dark, and we’ve now trained and certified 15 new coaches (and 20 LA Parks staff!) to introduce kids to Ultimate at over 37 LA City Parks this summer and fall through day camps, Summer Night Lights clinics and leagues, as well as evening classes; and
    3. Run events to support our youth, college, & club members: from HS States, to Conferences & Sectionals, to Team USA tryouts, we strive to provide fun and exciting opportunities that are hosted in CA;
    4. Support local orgs: from finding cost-effective shareable services to talking through event calendars and ways to incentivize more participation up and down the state, we strive to facilitate discussion and productivity;
    5. Build awareness: we strategically bid on and run national and world championships in the hopes local and national media pick up Ultimate, we also weave together our partnerships and hire local staff in untapped areas to plant the seeds of new local orgs.

We look forward to hosting you, and so does the greater Temecula area. If you have any further questions please contact the event organizer and tournament director by emailing
