Part of your program fees will go directly back into local disc organizations across the US so they can also keep players active and in touch.

USA Ultimate Memberships: Uplift Ultimate is sanctioned through USA Ultimate which provides both us and you with insurance, and also provides all of our coaches with access to SafeSport certification to ensure our community is as safe as possible. Because this isn’t a championship series, players need only have an Affiliate Membership at $14 through USA Ultimate. Quotes from campers and parents after our 2020 Summer Camp:

Our goal is to provide a safe place for athletes to learn & ask questions while also encouraging them to push the boundaries of their own comfort zones. We want you to try new things, be willing to fail, & support you as you try again.

Serving players from absolute beginners to traveling team superstars, Uplift provides virtual sport-specific training and top-notch coaching to help players and teams:

    • Stay active
    • Learn new skills
    • Sharpen and elevate fundamentals
    • Develop a deep understanding of strategies and tactics
    • Raise and address the hard questions that will help you uplift your community
    • Understand how to continue improving as individuals and teams outside of Uplift

As we all await a complete return to play, Uplift hopes to create and sustain communities while staying socially distant.

All Uplift sessions through 2021 will be held through Zoom. Activities are designed to be doable solo and in small (indoor or outdoor) spaces. Coaches and staff will explain how Uplift trainings can be adapted to larger spaces outdoors and with additional players should local guidelines allow such activity.

One of our personal favorite pieces of our sport is meeting other people who share our passion and forming meaningful friendships with athletes from varying backgrounds and locations. Created while pandemic restrictions still affect many, Uplift aims to create pathways to open communication across time zones and foster the kind of community that has given so much to us.

Christie Lawry (she/they)

Christie’s ultimate career began in high school, captaining the school’s boys team and trying out for (U19) Team USA. She helped lead the Pitt women to Nationals for the first time in 2010 and won a Club title with DC Scandal in 2013. Coaching and building the ultimate scene (in size, leadership, and equity!) in Pittsburgh for almost 15 years, she has been the Executive Director of Pittsburgh Ultimate since 2015 and currently coaches the Pitt Men’s A team.

Grant Boyd (he/him/his)
Grant started playing ultimate in 2002 in front of his MA high school with a local player turned mentor. After starting his college team, coaching, and playing competitively in NYC, Grant moved to Los Angeles in 2012. After leading local clinics and youth events, Grant founded and is the the Executive Director of both Southern California Youth Ultimate (SCYU, pronounced Sky-You!) and California Ultimate Association. Grant has played for NY’s Puppet Regime (X), PoNY (M), SoCal Condors (M), and last year for LA Lotus (X). He currently coaches at Thomas Starr King Middle School.

We’ll send you a packet detailing how to download and set up Zoom – and other digital platforms we’ll use – on the device of your choosing.

So much! We have an all-star cast of coaches that will be delivering programming chalk-full of expertise, perspective, tools, exercises, and drills that you can try at home and then expand upon as pandemic restrictions are eased.

From one of our summer campers: “We didn’t know what a virtual Ult Camp would be like but we decided to take a chance couldn’t be happier that we did. So great, in fact that we came back for more! Great coaches, great activities.”

  • Our goal is to make all activities possible to complete in a rather small space and by yourself (with adult supervision nearby). Wherever you are, please be sure to avoid sharp objects and clear any objects you might trip over. Ask an adult for help if you need help finding or clearing a safe area to workout. A living room or yard is ideal, but a park, sidewalk, or alleyway where a trusted adult can still see you will work as well.
  • COVID-19 is still a concern for many communities; if you’re in an area where others might walk very near your space, please consider having a mask handy to exercise in (we recommend a neckie which is always available to pull up over your mouth and nose).
  • REMEMBER: always consider your own safety, but be a great community member by considering the safety of others as well.

Uplift will honor any refund request for single clinics up until 3 days before the clinic date. Team Packs, throwing form analysis, and team workout programs cannot be refunded unless Uplift cancels one or more events, or if Uplift postpones a program and the team cannot make the new time frame.

Uplift also reserves the right to cancel any clinic or program at any time. If a cancellation has occurred, Uplift will provide a full or proportionate refund based on the product purchase, package deal, and/or other discounts/scholarships applied. While Uplift never wants to cancel a program, our programs are designed to be interactive and connect people which means a certain number of participants are needed.
